Brand Story
cocoa's. Not Cocoa. Not Coco.
The possessive matters. It means belonging. It means something that warms you from the inside — the way hot cocoa did when you were a child, cupped in both hands on a cold day. The lowercase "c" is deliberate. This brand doesn't shout. It leans in.
Where It Started
cocoa's began with a piece of glass and a memory.
The memory was of an old creamery — the kind with painted signs on the side of a brick building, blue lettering on a white background, a bell on the door, and glass bottles lined up in wooden crates. It smelled like milk and sugar and something faintly of hay. It felt like a place where time moved slower.
Nobody could find that creamery anymore. So we built what we remembered — on glass, not on a sign.
The blue cocoa's logo. The green "Fresh, Local, Yours." The barcode that looks like it belongs on a vintage milk carton. Every piece is a small tribute to a place that may not exist anymore, but still feels like home.
The Waffle Recipe
Flip over any cocoa's cup and you'll find a waffle recipe printed directly on the glass.
Not a sticker. Not a decal. Printed into the surface, the way old creamery bottles had their labels fused to the glass. The recipe is real — flour, sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, milk — and it's there for a reason.
Because the best conversations happen when someone stops to read the side of their cup. Because a kitchen should be a place where things are made, not just consumed. Because a waffle recipe on a drinking glass is an invitation to slow down, turn the cup in your hand, and maybe — just maybe — make something.
The Glass
cocoa's uses high borosilicate glass. This is not marketing language. This is a choice with consequences.
Borosilicate glass is what laboratories use for beakers and test tubes. It handles thermal shock that would shatter ordinary glass — pour boiling water into a cup that's been sitting in the freezer, and nothing happens. It does not crack. It does not flinch. It does not leak chemicals into your drink.
We chose this material for a simple reason: we wanted our cups to be the last cups you ever need. The one you reach for in the morning, rinse out, and reach for again in the afternoon. The one that goes in the dishwasher fifty times and comes out looking exactly the same. The one your children will inherit and wonder where it came from.
That's borosilicate. That's cocoa's.
The Waffle Ridge
The stepped ring just below the rim of our Waffle Cup is not decoration. It's engineering.
It was designed so your thumb finds it without looking. So the glass stays put when your hands are wet, or when you're holding a toddler in one arm and your iced coffee in the other. So the cup feels intentional in your hand — not like an afterthought, but like a tool that was designed around the shape of a human grip.
It's called a waffle ridge because the shape was borrowed from the grid of a waffle iron. But the real inspiration was simpler: we wanted a glass you could trust with one hand.
The Studio
cocoa's operates from a small studio at 300 Cedar Avenue in Lexington, Kentucky.
Lexington is not a glassmaking capital. It's a city of horse farms, bourbon distilleries, and brick streets lined with sycamore trees. It's the kind of place where people wave from their porches and the pace of life is set by the weather, not the calendar.
This matters because cocoa's is not a factory brand. It is a studio brand — designed, packed, and shipped by a small team who believe that good glass deserves a small address. Every order that leaves Cedar Avenue has been touched by someone who knows what's in the box and why it matters.
Warm Living
This is the idea that holds everything together.
Warm Living is not about the temperature of the glass. It's about the temperature of a home. It's about the objects you use every day carrying a sense of care. It's about a cup that looks like it came from your grandmother's kitchen but performs like something from a laboratory. It's about the waffle recipe you read every morning and never get tired of. It's about the blue logo that makes you smile before you pour.
cocoa's doesn't make glassware. It makes the things you reach for without thinking — because they've become part of how your kitchen feels.
